"Thanks for that, by the way," Toby said quietly to Tristan. "No problem. Someone needs to give Little a kick up the ass every now and then," Tristan said cheerfully. "I was just going to find Alex," Toby continued. "I thought she was still in class. But as I was going over there they came over and...grabbed me..." He rubbed his arm thoughtfully. "Anyway, thanks." "Where is Alex, anyway?" Garrett asked.

"At some sports club probably" said Tristan "I don't know why she bothers, the other girls are bitches" "She doesn't care what they think" said Toby "They've hardly got more brain cells to rub together than Little and co"

"Now now Toby..." Tristan said, "Don't go complmenting them their heads are already swollen enough!" They laughed. Garrett espescially. He did that. He didn't have any idea why, he just always found things especially funny. Tristan and Toby gave him a sceptical glance and turned away, trying to stop themselves laughing again. Garrett stopped. The pair looked at him. "What is it?" Toby asked. "Don't you see it?" Garrett asked, pointing to a patch of empty space. "See wha..." Tristan started but then he saw it to, the three of them were staring in awe at it. "Lights." Toby said simply. There were indeed lights, all of different colours and of different sizes, they were rapidly pulsing and quickly getting bigger. "What the hell..." Garrett murmured.
Emma was tempted just to fall down and go to sleep. Screw this crap, she thought, it was too hot to do anything, let alone be stuck in this hellhole. Suddenly, she sat up. What the... she thought. She gazed around, everyone, including their captor was writing silently, it was as if the lights weren't there. They were...alien...magical...some green, some red, some orange. All bright and pulsing faster and faster. She glanced around, but they were all oblivious to what was happening. the lights got faster...
Cassie stopped. The lights hadn't been there before. They looked weird and they were definately moving. "Cool lights huh?" She asked Jennifer. "huh?" she asked, not really listening. "Those lights, where are they coming from?" "Cass? what are you on about?" Jenny said, too busy with her phone. "Nothing." Cassie dismissed. Ok that was bad. Was she going crazy? The lights were now getting really irritating. They kept pulsing faster and faster. She saw Kyre Summons over the road. She saw him staring at exactly the same patch as she was. Could he see them to? She glanced at him. She jerked her head to where the lights were and he nodded. Kyre pointed to Jennifer, who hadn't seen him. Cassie shook her head. What the hell was going on?
Alex clashed her stick with her opponents. The ball flew off in another direction and she ran off after it. Hockey. It was a great sport, she always enjoyed it. This game was one of particularly intensity. She moved towards the goal. The ball was recovered and all the defenders had been bypassed. She held her stick up and whacked the ball straight at the goalie. The ball was reflected right back at her and whacked her straight in the head. She cried out and fell to the floor. She was seeing lights. She blinked several times. the lights didn't go. She paused. These lights didn't seem normal. She'd been hit on the head like this before. Normally any lights she saw just disappeared. Not these. They stayed there. Pulsing. Glowing. They were bright and colourful. Vivid, even. "Whoa. Look at those lights." Alex said, still a bit dazed from the hit on the head. "Ok Alex...sit down, that was quite a nasty blow. Someone get an ice pack!" The coach shouted.
Then. Just as suddenly as they had been there, all four sets of lights vanished. The seven all stared, looking at the spots where the lights had been.
"Weird." Alex said. "Huh?" Cassie said. "What the..." Kyre said. "OOOOOK" Emma said. "Creepy." Toby said. "Cool." Tristan said. "They'll be back..." Garrett said.

Toby shook his head, confused. "What...what just happened?" "I don't know..." Garrett blinked, staring into the space where the lights had been. "Did anyone else see that?" "I did," said Tristan. "What was it?"

"Are you going to the party tonight?" said Jenny ignoring her friend's apparent little episode. "No" said Cassie looking behind her at the spot where the lights had vanished for the millionth time "I don't think I feel like it, I'm just going to stay home and get some rest". Yes rest was what she needed, rest to clear her head. This must be some sort of bizzaire dream, she was so busy thinking that she almost colided with the group of boys loitering on the pavement; Garett, Tristan and Toby, the residant bunch of rejects.

Kyre was still standing on the pavement staring up at the sky, He saw Cassie rush passed some boys. "Hey Cass!" he said running over to her, "Whats up?." "OH nothing much, I just saw these crazy lights and now I have the biggest migraine, Im going home to bed." "You saw them too?"

Cassie vaugeley heard his words as she hurried home "You saw them too?" - had he seen them as well? She didn't want to think about it, she must be ill or somthing, it was all in her head, Kyre was either joking with her or by some spooky coincidence he had seen the lights too, all in her head.
