The other two also sat down. After around ten minutes and a lot of waiting and erring Eliso eventually said. "Okay, so i cant think of a way in." she slouched down putting her head in her hands. "Mind if the rest of us try and think of something." Said Kai. "Why? werent you thinking of something earlier." Eliso snapped "Well i was but i thought i'd wait incase you had a better plan" he replied. "OK then" Eliso sounded exasperated "What is it?" "That" Said Kai proudly pointing towards an unmanned hay cart, horses still tethered to it. "You can hide in the hay bales "And just how do you suppose we move it?" said Tino ponderously. "Well incase you didnt notice, my face wasnt on any of the wanted posters. I'll drive the cart." Kai said summarising. "That is a ridiculous plan Kai." Said Eliso, Kai looked crestfallen. "So let's do it." she continued. Kai smiled broadly, and the three of then ran towards the cart.

Tino and Elisso buried themselves under the hay leaving a small gap to see out of. Kai jumped onto the front and urged the horses forward. A short time later they reached the gate and halted by the gaurds. Then Eliso's heart sunk, she poked Tino and pointed towards the gate. Through the gap they could see several wanted posters of varying ages. There was one large one showing three people. Squinting, Tino made out one of them had very similar clothes to him and another looked alot like Eliso. The third person in the picture looked far too familiar for comfort. "Excuse me sir, just need to search your cart" One of the gaurds said drawing his sword. Pricks of sweat began to form on Kai's face, he glanced round and noticed the poster. Now he was soaking with sweat and while wiping it away he brushed some of his hair over his face. The gaurd peered under the cart and started randomly stabbing the hay. The gaurd sheathed his sword and waved Kai on which he gladly did.
After quickly parking the cart he jumped off and began shifting the hay off of them. Tino and Eliso pushed away the hay, all of the sighed in relief. They wiped off and hay still on them. "Bastards!" Tino exclaimed "What?" Eliso said quickly "He stabbed right through my cloak!" pointing to the hole. Eliso rolled her eyes as she climbed down.

Eliso lead them around inton the inn. It was dark and smoky inside, and one or two people sat grimly and silently, casting curious glances at them then ignoring them "We won't be recognised in here," Eliso said happily. "You two get a drink or something. I'll find Jelask." She disappeared around the corner. Tino steered Kai away from the others and sat down in the corner, flagging the barman and ordering three drinks.

Kai and Tino quietly sipped their drinks waiting for Eliso to return. Kai wiped off the last of the sweat and Tino tutted as he inspected his cloak. Kai turned his attention to the surrounding people his eyes shot to the opposite corner. It was completely dark save for the occasional inhalation of someone smoking a pipe, the extremely faint glow did not reveal much except he was hooded in a green hood. Kai kept glancing back until the person he was watching stood and quickly left the inn still cloaked.

[glow=red,2,300]^^ Fellowship of the Ring, Aragorn's entrance...? lol[/glow]
Eliso hesitated shyly at the door for a moment then quickly knocked three times. Almost instantly the door swung open, and Eliso stepped back, surprised. The room beyond was even darker and smokier than the one she was in, and for a few seconds she couldn't make out the man in the doorway at all. He was smaller than Eliso, and for a moment all she could make out was his wild, wiry hair. Soon she could see the young, dark-skinned face it framed, brilliant green eyes gazing up at her, frowning. Eliso smiled, desperately hoping that he recognised her. What felt like ages past before he cocked his head to one side. "Well, I'll be damned," he said (had Eliso not known him so well she might not have heard the words for his thick accent). "Eliso?" "Jelask," she said. "Long time, no see!" "I'll say!" Jelask grinned. "You're not here to pay me back the money you owe me, are you?" " 'Course I'm not," Eliso said briskly. "I've a favour to ask." "Should have guessed," Jelask said, trying to look exasperated, though he couldn't quite keep a straight face. "In you come, then, Eliso, lass, and we'll discuss the nature of this favour." He led Eliso into the room and lit the lanterns on the circular table, illuminating the smoky room. He indicated to the chair opposite his, where Eliso was already headed to sit. "So, Eliso," he said, taking his seat and lifting his pipe back to his face. "What brings you back to my inn?" He was possibly no older than Eliso, though she'd never asked in all their time of knowing one another, but there was something in his voice and eyes that made him seem so much older. He had a handsome face in a strange way, and he was a good man as far as good men went in a place like this; for a long time Eliso had thought she was in love with Jelask, though she felt she was safely over these emotions. "I've some friends with me who may require your assistance," Eliso said. "We're on our way north, you see, and I need a map." "Well, I suppose that is what I'm here for," Jelask said, smiling. "What manner or map would this be?"

"Everything north of here or as much detail as possible" she asked quietly. Jelask hummed to himself for a moment stroking his chin. He stood and walked over to the chest behind him and started throwing things out of it. "Ah! Here it is!" He said pulling out a rather large rolled up parchment. "Its a bit big isn't it?" She asked "You wanted detail and everything north, this covers it. I want it back eventually, I plan on doing some traveling again" He smiled "You said you would give it up as soon as you owned your own tavern, and you did. Whats with the change of heart?" "I miss the Ol'days" He turned to the fire and began to recount one of his tales. Eliso quietly walked out and back downstairs finding Tino ordering more drinks.

"Not getting drunk, are you?" she said happily, sitting down beside Tino and struggling to fold the huge map. "For someone who's been chased out of a town then dragged back into said town in a haybale, you're remarkably cheerful," Tino said, his eyes still on the offending stranger in the corner. "Well, we've got what we need," Eliso said. "Soon as we get out of this town I'll cut it down to what we need, and--Hey--um, did we ever actually plan a way out of the town?" Tino was so lost in the stranger that he didn't hear, so Kai replied; "If we wait till night we can go then. Back in the cart. We can't get out of the inn in the daytime, though." "What time is it now?" Eliso asked, peering through the smoky window. "Late evening, pushing on night. We won't have to wait long."

Tino drank up, still not listening to his companions, then stood up. He mumbled something to Kai and walked away from the table. Kai shrugged and turned to regard Eliso's map as she called for the barman for another drink. Tino wandered a bit around the bar then came to a halt beside the window. To his alarm, the green-cloaked man was there, standing in the courtyard beside their cart, smoke rising in clouds from his pipe. He looked like he was waiting for something, or someone. Tino noticed that he was toying with a coin in one hand. Abruptly the man turned and seemed to look directly into Tino's eyes. He ducked instinctively, then moved fast away from the window. Breathing hard and trying not to show, he slowly glanced around the windowframe again. The man had resumed flicking his coin into the air, a tiny spark of gold in the thick darkness, and deftly catching it with one hand. He was facing away from the inn again. Tino turned slowly and headed back to the table.

For another hour or so Tino managed to stall his companions at their table, in the dim hope that the later they set off, the less likely it would be that the man would still be there. Eventually Eliso realised just how late it was. "It's pushing on midnight! We're gonna have to book into a hotel if we don't get moving! Come on." Tino opened his mouth as they stood up to try again but decided against it. If the man was still out there, well, they'd have to face him sooner or later. Eliso thanked her friend again and Kai paid the barman and the three of them headed outside. It was a cloudless, cool night and the street seemed deserted. Tino breathed a sigh of relief, assuming they would be safe. They rounded the corner to their cart, and there he was. Now in the full firelight they could see him properly. His green cloak reached down to his black, buckled boots which were crossed in front of him where he sat casually on the cart. He was dressed strangely in black and green, and now his emerald hood was pulled back they could see his mousey hair and brown-orange eyes. To Tino's surprise, he was smiling. He raised both empty hands as Tino and Kai went for their weapons and Eliso raised hers threateningly. "Save your strength for your real enemies," he said. "I mean you no harm." "Who are you?" Tino demanded before Eliso could speak. "A potential companion," he said levelly. "I have a proposition for you." Tino gripped his sword suspiciously. "And how do we know you're not a servent of the enemy? How do we know--" "I would answer your questions, young master, but there is no time," he interrupted. "You have been brought to the attention of unfriendly eyes tonight. A sharp-eyed servant of the baron of this town saw you in the tavern, and is fetching His Lord's guards as we speak." Eliso and Kai gasped. Tino barely moved. "So why are you telling us this?" he demanded. "Because if you obey my words and trust me, I can show you a secret and fast route out of this town. Think on it, Miss Eliso," he said, catching Eliso by surprise. Her hands shot up again in alarm, ready to cast. "Think on it," he said. "You can follow me to safety, or stay here and be dragged to the cells." Eliso looked at Tino, who didn't look trusting of the newcomer. Neither did Kai, but, well, he never looked trusting of anyone. But even as they stood there, Eliso could hear the sound of shouting coming their way. They didn't have a choice. "Lead the way," she said. A smile crossed the man's face, and he leapt to his feet. "Leave the cart. Follow me." At a run they followed the stranger to the other side of the inn where four horses were tethered. Without question Eliso, Kai and Tino mounted their horses and even without their command the horses shot off after their master through the town. Eliso, Kai and Tino had to hang onto the reigns just so they weren't thrown off. The stranger rode as though he'd ridden the path a thousand times before (which, Tino thought, he probably had) and soon they came to another, broken-down building at the edge of the town, its door hanging open. The man led them at full speed straight through the door and through a tunnel at the other side which, apparently, dug straight through the town wall. Through a thin barrier of branches and leaves at the other side they found themselves out on the open plains again and riding fast away from the town.

They soon reached the hill that they had sat on during the day. The stranger turned his horse round and faced them. He carried no weapon that was visible which worried Tino because, a man who will dare to go without a weapon is a dangerous man. He reach under his cloak and pulled out his pipe, accidentally something fell out and landed with a thud. He picked it up and in the moonlight they could make out what seemed to be just the handle of a sword. The stranger quickly put it back and began to smoke his pipe slowly. "So who are you?" Tino asked "I suppose we have time now, I am Zai'kilduian the Vanquesher!" He lifted his chin in a attempt to make himself look heroic. "Who?" Eliso asked "What you mean you never heard of me?" He asked astonished, They shook thier heads in reply "You mean you never heard about me destroying the evil spirits terrorising the port of Danes?" They continued to stare at him blankly "I who had defeated the dragon of Anor?" "Nope" Tino replied, Zai'kilduian put his hand on his forehead and looked down into his lap and sighed. "I thought everyone knew me..." He sighed again and looked up "Just call me Zai then" "Where to then, Zai?" Kai asked "I'm sure you got a map while you were here? Why don't you look at that?" Eliso pulled out the map and held an orb of light in her hand above the map "Well if we head east we should come to a village to stop off at" "Ok we will head there!"

Without further warning Zai put his heels to the horse's flanks and started off at a swift trot. Eliso, Kai and Tino quickly followed. Eliso spurred up to talk to him. "How do we know--" "That you can trust me?" Zai asked with a chuckle. "Don't you worry. Surely if I'd wanted to hurt you I'd have turned you over to the townspeople before?" Eliso bit back a response; he had a point. "So, why are you helping us?" Zai shrugged. "If you can't hurt, help," he said. When he noticed Eliso's blank expression he added, "Whoever isn't my enemy is my friend. Don't you want my help?" "Oh, yes," Eliso said quickly, "it's greatly appreciated. I suppose," she added, "you know what we're up against?" "'Course," Zai said. "Weren't you listening? I'm a Slayer! I roam the lands in search enemies that will make my name go down in history!" "It's doing wonders for you so far," Kai whispered to Tino, who giggled. "So, that's all that's in it for you?" Eliso said. "Fame?" "Sure," Zai said. "Why not?" "Why not indeed," Eliso said, slightly confused.

They tried to ride all through the night but they had stopped and made camp in the pitch black, when Kai fell asleep on his horse and fell off into a small ford. They woke up cold with their muscles tense and painful. It wasn't until late in the morning when they finally set off again for the village. "I need a bed!" Eliso groaned to herself "I can quote this" Kai said to Tino "Everyone knows I hate sleeping outside" "Everyone knows I hate sleeping outside!" she continued to moan "I want a soft, warm bed with thick sheets to curl up in" Kai continued smirking "I want a soft, warm bed with thick sheets to curl up in" She sighed to herself as Tino giggled to himself. "We've travelled together for quite awhile and shes said that countless times" Kai said "I can tell" TIno replied
Zai stopped and signalled everyone to halt. He pulled down his hood revealing his tangled hair, shifting his head around trying to listen for something. Then suddenely there was a quick whistle of an arrow and Zai leaned back in his saddle then snatched the arrow which was in mid flight to where he was. Everyone jumped off their horses and drew their weapons, Zai still unarmed. Then they charged, about ten poorly clothed men carrying a variety of equipment charged straight towards them. Zai threw off his cloak revealing his lightweight clothes and stepped several paces infront of them.
One of the attackers was carrying a large two handed sword high above his head going straight for Zai. He swung downhards in a attempt to cleave Zai in half but Zai simply stepped to the side unbelievable fast. The attacker quickly recovered and swung at the Zai from the side but Zai leaned so far back the sword past straight over him. He took his chance as the mans defence was open and slammed his fist into the mans stomach then punched him so hard in the face he flew several feet backwards. The attackers were astonished and attacked everyone who wasnt on their side.

For a moment Eliso, Kai and Tino stared at Zai in alarm, then threw themselves into the fight. The men were easily taken down, so astonished as they were at Zai's attack, and after a few seconds there was nothing left of them. "That," Eliso said breathlessly, "was shocking. You move faster than anyone I've ever seen, and I've seen Kai move twelve paces to a free meal in four steps. How did you do that?" "Practice," Zai said casually, as Kai glared at Eliso. Eliso just stared at him as he wiped his sword clean on his cloak. "Well," she said eventually, "all I can say is that I'm glad you're on my side." "So am I," Zai said, smiling charmingly. Eliso smiled breathlessly back as he remounted his horse gracefully.

"Just bounty hunters" he said as he mounted his horse. "No supprise there" Kai sighed and the slowly eased their horses forward and onward to the village.

For the rest of that day the four of them rode across the bleak landscape until finally the little houses of the village came into view. It was getting dark and would still be another few hours ride, but Eliso refused to stop. "I'm not sleeping on the ground another night longer," she said. "Come on, come on, it'll only take about an hour to get there." 'About an hour' turned into three hours when, close to midnight, their horses finally dragged their feet into the village. "We'll be safe here," Zai said cheerfully. "These people won't know enough about what's outside their village to know who we are." "What's this village doing in the middle of nowhere?" Tino asked. "There's only about twenty houses and nothing else around for leagues." "Legend says the village is cursed," Zai said casually. "The villagers are doomed never to leave the boarders. No one strays near for fear of falling under the same spell. 'Course, that's only a legend." "Good," Eliso said uncertainly.

Some time later they were standing in the middle of a market place looking around. All eyes soon turned to Zai. "Ok so my history is a little out of date..." he said looking slightly down towards the ground. "The place is deserted!" Tino said angrly now annoyed after hoping there would be some good food. "From the looks it has been for quite awhile" Elliso sighed "Wonder what happened though" Zai said "How about we split up and meet back here in an hour?" Elliso suggested "Sure thats fine" Kai replied
They all went in different directions and after an hour everyone except Tino had come back. They waited for another hour. "Where is he?" said Zai "How should we know?" Kai replied moodily "I'm going to look for him" Elliso said standing up "Coming?"
They slowly searched each house in the direction Tino had gone. They came to the last house and walked inside. They looked around abit and it seemed that someone had been living there and had left in the morning. They thought for a moment and then walked out the house and halted. The whole village had suddenly come to life, there was merchants selling many different things, Blacksmiths hard at work and children playing in the streets. "How the?" Kai started "Ah took your time didn't you?" a voice came from their right, they turned to find Tino sitting on a chair smoking a pipe. "Tino whats going on, where are we?" Elliso asked "Very good question and I've been thinking about that for the past two years..." "Two years! You've been gone for two hours!" "Ah...that would explain why you took so long see I kinda don't know how to get back and figured I should wait for you guys show up. Oh by the way, we're in the past"
