Hades' face contorted into something far more hideous and frightening than ever before, and the God of the Underworld let out a deep, deafening shriek that shook the land and sky as one. Orion was almost thrown off his feet but he held tightly to his sword hilt, stuck deep in Hades' torso; then, all of a sudden, the blade shattered, and Orion was flung to the ground. Hades rose above them, shaking and screaming, his whole body contorted in pain, and as he opened his mouth again a thick beam of blood red light shone out directly into Orion's eyes. He threw up a hand to shield his eyes but he could still see, through his fingers, the being of Hades shatter into a million pieces and the fragments dissipate into the very air, the howling shriek ringing and drifting in the still air.
Every single being in Athens froze at that moment, and all eyes of allies and enemies alike were staring at Orion. Then, as though a wave of power washed over the city, the enemies of Athens exploded in white light, until it seemed as though glittering stars were drifting down to the earth where they lay shining in the diminishing sunlight before fading completely.
A deafening cheer from the allies of Athens went completely unheard in Orion's ears. He struggled to sit up, tugging the arrow from his shoulder, and looked around for his friends. A beautiful, Godly figure crouched over Rondis, dark hair falling to her shoulders, beauty shining from her face, and it was some time before Orion's slow, exhausted mind realised that it was Laura. She looked different, older, stronger, even as she knelt cradling Rondis' head in her hands.
"Rondis...Rondis..." She gently brushed his hair from his face as Rondis' eyes opened. He blinked in what seemed like bright light, his eyes finally focusing on Laura's face.
"Laura--"
He pushed himself up and threw his arms around her. Laura laughed, holding Rondis tightly. Rondis felt as though he would never let her go. All the fear, the pain and sorrow washed away as he sat in Laura's arms, happier than he'd felt for so long.
Finally they broke apart, Laura laughing in her relief. Rondis smiled tiredly, conscious of looking a total mess in contrast to her beauty. Then anxiety clouded his face and he looked around.
"Where's Orion?"
