Yeah going to try and type a story, since i hated what I wrote last time I decided not to continue it, I think this is better.
Chapter 1: Howling Winds
Rain pattered gently against the train as it rushed along its track. Street lights blurred as the train moved past them. On one of the back carriages, a group of teenagers sat, they were coming back from watching a movie. The cart was deserted, they weren’t paying to much attention to how busy it was, they were more involved in there own conversations. One of the five people wasn’t so involved in the conversation, she occasionally smiled as the conversation came to her but didn’t really contribute much. She was to busy looking at the window, watching the world go buy. At the time she was lost in thought, trapped in her own mind. This happened to her a lot, she liked to be quiet a lot of the time, especially after a day like this one. While she always had fun with her friends, it was always an odd experience, she never fully seemed to gel, every time she got a little closer but still never managed it. This wasn’t something she particularly worried about anymore, they liked her and she loved them, it’d probably always be like that.
“Hey, Kitty, you okay.” Asked her boyfriend, well kind of, as is generally the problem with teenage relationships, it was complicated. The boy was good looking as boys went, long blonde hair, with purple streaks going down it. Big, brown eyes that shone in the dark, large lips that could break into a huge smile, slightly tanned skin.
“Yeah, I’m fine, Mike. Just a bit tired, is all.” She replied giving him a complementary smile, it looked as though he was going to say something else, but he shrugged to himself and went back to talking with the others. He liked Kitty, but a lot of the time she was very distant, he couldn’t be bothered to try and find out why anymore. He guessed it was her own choice is she wanted to push people away. Fortunately he found her very attractive, she had long brown hair, that fell down past her shoulders, light blue eyes that seemed to move like an ocean in the light, bright red lips that could light the room when she smiled. Kitty was slightly smaller then most people but not small enough to be considered short. It gave her a feminism that most people found very attractive. She wore light blue jeans and a pink top, it had golden writing going across it. To most people she would look like a nice, normal girl, even if she did come of slightly shy…or very shy when spoke to. Although she knew she wasn’t normal, she wasn’t exactly odd…well not more odd then everyone since no one is normal. Yet some of the things that happened to her and some of the things she saw would startle her. These visions weren’t part of her normal imagination, she liked to dream of nice things and she liked to see warm places. When these visions came to her she saw pain and suffering, sometimes she saw men’s bodies breaking or grim monsters coming alive. She wouldn’t mind these visions if they were like her normal day dreams but they weren’t. In fact she strongly doubted that anyone else saw things like she saw them. When these vision popped into her mind it felt as though a bullet had entered her skull, everything was so vivid so clear, she could smell every smell, hear every sound, taste every taste. Worst of all when they came she felt as though they would never leave, even though she only saw them for a few seconds.
“Hey, Kitty…wake up.” Said one of her friends, she hadn’t been asleep but it did occur to her that she had gone into a trance.
“But its so much more peaceful there.” She replied somewhat jokingly
“Hmmm, oh well we’re almost home you can go into a trance as long as you like then.” Said her friend
“Yeah I guess.” Replied Kitty dreamily. Her friend had short blonde hair and a very pink face, sometimes she could look extremely innocent and charming, on other occasions she could look extremely threatening. She was slightly bigger then most people her age, which came from working out and going to the gym…a lot. The train slowed to a stop, this was the last stop until they got back into Greensleaf, at this time of night it was common for the stop to be utterly deserted, but not on this occasion. There was one man waiting for the train to stop. Kitty looked at him casually, he looked familiar but not in a good way. His grey eyes looked old and worn, so did his face, it was tatty and pained. Yet he was young, his golden blonde hair was almost brighter then the sun, his grey eyes while old, exuded power as did everything about him. He wasn’t a big or buff man but he was intimidating all the same. To Kitty it seemed like the entire world was moving just to let him past. To her small dismay he stepped on there carriage and walked silent over to the seat opposite them. For a second everyone fell silent and there eyes fell upon him, then they went back to talking after deciding he wasn’t going to do them any harm. Well everyone other then Kitty, she wasn’t so sure. The man wore a business suit, his jacket was meant to be a light grey, but it was so damp from the rain it looked more black, he didn’t have a tie on, underneath his jacket he had a dark red shirt on, in the light of the train it looked to be on fire, his trousers were black and perfectly ironed. His shoes were well shined and a highly expensive make. Kitty found it hard to take her eyes of him, there was something about him, it was incredible and almost overwhelming. His presence seemed to be disrupting everything in the whole train, everything felt slightly different and everything made slightly less sense. Slowly he raised his head to see who was looking at him, Kitty didn’t move her eyes away fast enough, and for a second they were locked. It was just a second but it felt much longer, it felt as though everything she had ever felt and everything she ever would feel all just entered her mind. She was the first to break the eye contact, but it left her breathless, she felt as though she had been forced to run a hundred meter course. Mike had been paying attention to this whole exchange and was getting slightly angry, he put one of his well toned arms around her and pulled her closer. The man watched this whole exchange and smiled at her, then went into his briefcase, he pulled out a book (Of mice and men) and buried his head in it. Kitty didn’t like being so close to someone, she still liked her own space, if felt as though she trapped up against him, even so she supposed she was being slightly unfair so went along with it. For the rest of the journey she couldn’t stop looking over at the man, or fidgeting uncomfortably in her seat.
Finally the train stopped and the wind picked up fiercely, it echoed around the town. Kitty had to squint it was so powerful and hurting her eyes. Mike went to hold her hand but she slipped into her pocket before he could grab it.
“Wow its chilly.” Said Kerry. Kerry was Kitty’s best friend, she meant everything to her, she was the person who aloud her to be herself. Kerry had long fiery hair that looked even more alight then usual in the wind, her eyes were a bright green, it looked as though emeralds had been inserted into her head. She was wearing a fleece coat that she had wrapped around herself in order to keep herself warm. To Kitty’s surprise the man also stepped of the train, he moved silently, he would have reminded Kitty of a ghost, but he was alive in every sense of the word, there wasn’t a thing about him that wasn’t electrifying.
“Right, come on.” Said Mike eyeing the man surreptitiously, he was starting to feel uncomfortable, he kept eyeing Kitty up and down.
“Okay.” Said Kerry and they started walking, Mike dictated the pace and it was fast one, sometimes Kitty had to jog to keep up with him, she didn’t really mind though. The way home from the train station wasn’t all that nice, especially not at this time at night. Not that they lived in a particularly rough town or that there had been many murders, just a lot of the streets were usually deserted and this weather played on paranoia. The wind was getting worse, the rain stung as it hit against there faces.
Suddenly Mike stopped dead in his tracks, Kitty walked straight into him. Then she saw why he stopped and froze with fear. Standing in front of them was a wolf, its lips were curled, saliva running out of its growling mouth, its yellow teeth showing as it growled at them. Its cold yellow eyes locked onto Kitty for a few second then travelled over her and fixed on something behind her. They all turned around to see what it was looking at, the man on the train was standing a few paces behind him. One of the street lights illuminated him, he was smiling confidently at the wolf. Now Kitty grabbed onto Mike, this man was starting to scare her. He had managed to keep up with them all this while. Why was he following them? What was a wolf doing in the middle of England? None of this made any sense. Kerry whimpered gently under her breath, she seemed much more concerned with the wolf then she did with the man. Its shackles were raised and it poured the ground getting ready to pounce. The mans grey eyes looked straight into the wolfs fierce yellow eyes. A little whimper escaped the wolf, it stopped growling and slowly turned around and run as fast it could in the other direction.
“What the hell is going on.” Muttered Kerry under her breath as she watched the wolf run into the darkness, she turned around to look at the man, he was staring of into the darkness, seemingly to make sure the wolf had gone. Casually he turned around and walked of into the darkness. Kitty breathed a sigh of relief, she looked into the blackness of the night to make sure he had gone, fortunately he didn’t look as though he was going to come back.
“What the hell is going on.” Repeated Kerry, this time louder so everyone could here her.
“I dunno, I don’t really like it.” Said Mike and they started walking again, he was close to running now, Kitty and Kerry couldn’t keep up with him, it was to much walk, he was a lot bigger then both of them. Kerry fell behind so she could talk to Kitty.
“Have you seen Hazel?” She asked
“Yeah, she stayed on the train.” Panted Kitty, she wasn’t the athletic type all this running was making her tired, she felt sick to her stomach from running. Everything that had happened tonight was becoming a bit to much for her.
“Do you fancy sleeping round mine tonight, I didn’t like the way that man was eyeing you, plus aren’t your parents out tonight?” asked Kerry, she was starting to sweat now. The rain couldn’t cool her down, she was starting to wish Mike would slow down.
“Yeah, I didn’t like it either…actually I haven’t liked much that’s happened tonight.” She replied
“No, me neither, I want to get home, I’ll feel much safer there.” Gasped Kerry, she was trying to draw in enough breath.
“Same.” Answered Kitty, she stopped talking since it was proving to much effort.
Eventually Mike split away from Kerry and Kitty. It wasn’t a long until they go to Kerry’s house, but they slowed down there pace of walking considerably, it was to tiring to keep that pace up for a sustained period of time.
“So, why do you think that wolf was there?” Asked Kerry, shivering slightly in the cold
“Dunno, maybe it escaped from a zoo or something.” Replied Kitty, she didn’t really believe her own answer, there were know zoo’s close and even if they were the wolf probably would have not run away from that man, if it wouldn’t run away from them.
“Yeah, probably.” Replied Kerry, it seemed like she was struggling to believe her own reasoning as well. Kitty couldn’t help but notice she was avoiding answering the two questions that were on both of there minds, who was that man? And why did the wolf run away from him?
After a short while of walking they got to Kerry’s house, she lived in a small house. Even so it was nice and cosy, they seemed to have the latest of everything inside the house, flat screens TV’s, leather sofas, they even had a mechanical salt shaker. This was really pushing the line into becoming ridiculous Kitty thought to herself, but she never said it. She always had fun playing around with there gadgets. Kerry fumbled with the keys, she was to cold to get a good grip on them and she was shaking to much to manage to turn them. Finally she managed to get the door open, Kitty was almost overwhelmed with the warmth of the house, it washed over her, she felt as though she was bathing in it.
“Hi!” Kerry shouted
“Hi!” Replied her mum, her sister scoffed slightly as she entered the room.
“Is it okay if Kitty sleeps round, just there was this weird guy following us and her parents aren’t home.” Explained Kerry
“Yeah, I guess that’s fine, I don’t have any food though.” Replied her mum
“Don’t worry, we ate while we were out.” Replied Kerry
“Oh, okay…Hi Kitty.”
“Hiya.” Replied Kitty, she was very tired and wanted to go to sleep, fortunately she still had clothes round at Kerry’s house from the last time she slept round so she could jump straight into there spare bed.
It didn’t take her long to drift of to sleep, she had so much on her mind she thought it would, but it seemed as though the adrenaline had wore of and all that was left as a ache and exhaustion. When she was asleep she had an odd dream, well odd not being the right word, she had a terrifying dream. Standing in front of her was a bald headed man, if he was a man. His eyes resembled the eyes of the wolf, his arms were long and skinny, his fingers were more like claws and webbing running in-between his fingers, he was dressed in grey rags, a broken chain was locked around his ankle, it chinked along the ground. Kitty saw a small version of herself between his thumb and index finger, the thing was admiring as if it was a model. Slowly he raised her up to his mouth, she realised she was struggling against the thing. The monster opened wide his black mouth and popped her the miniature her. Without knowing she was doing Kitty screamed no, the beasts wolf like eyes turned to her. It started to advance towards her, as he moved forward she saw the man that had been following her standing behind him, he had that confident grin on his face. His grey eyes were looking at her, the monster grabbed her by the neck and raised her of the ground. She could feel his iron grip around her throat, it hurt but before the pain became to intense she woke up. Sun was shinning through the wind and birds were tweeting merrily, her nightmare slipped quickly out of her mind
Somewhere far below, in a place where the sun never shone the man was sitting on his throne. The throne was made from red stone, it towered up higher, higher the most houses. He was resting both his arms casually on the side pf the chair. He was looking out over a place that seemed to go on forever, it was a horrible image, it was full of people screaming, begging for mercy, terrible creatures roars echoed through the huge caverns. A huge spider approached the man, its eight eyes trembled with fear as it looked at him, even though he was twice the size of the man and much more fierce looking he still coward while near him.
“Lord Lucifer how was your trip to the world above.” Asked the spider shakily
“It was…educational.” Replied Lucifer picking his words carefully
“Do you intend to leave us?” Asked the spider cautiously
“Hmm, I think so. I’m tired of hell, the wars have finished and I do not feel like my presence here is needed. I will return, after all this is my home. But I think its time to try my luck in the real world…”
