Hi guys! Just thought I'd drop in and say hello from university! Moved into my halls in Cambridge yesterday, and am a little more settled in how. I was really upset last night about being so far from home and all my friends, but my Internet's up and running now - and actually works, unlike at home - and I've made some new friends and am getting to know the place now. About to go out to town and buy some stuffs, then going out tonight, presumably for drinking. ;D I miss everyone so much, and I've only been here a day. Top of my stuff to buy is a new printer so I can get some photos up on my pinboard. I don't have a landline so contacting everyone is stupidly expensive, so I may well be on MSN more often! Let us all know when everyone else goes away, how you're doing and how it is living away from home! Hope you all miss me too! Love Ceri xXxxXx

yay for uni! have a fab time since you are the only person I know at cambridge and my school is completely being unhelpful with my UCAS app, I do have a quick question though, regarding applications to cambridge: if you choose not to do an open application, how many colleges can you apply to? and if you don't get in to the colleges you chose, does that mean you don't get in at all? anyway, enjoy yourself, get very drunk, maybe fit in learning if there is time, etc etc. xxx

Heeeeeeeeeeymysexymidgetfrienddd ;D
I can't say for sure but the four Corkey's shots are telling me I may be drunk.
Joanna my friend, I'm afraid I don't know the difference between an open application and whatever its opposite is, and as Fi says I'm at Anglia Ruskin, which is *in* Cambridge but not quite so academic. (Though apparently they get either stupidly cheap or free alcohol, I don't remember which, but still a plus point!)
I totally won two cinema tickets and a tin of beans tonight! Rock on! ;D

jo - you can only apply to one college and for one course, and if someone doesnt get in, they might get pooled , so another college might consider them, but if a person doesnt get pooled and dont get into the college, then they dont get in at all

We have a pet! Yeah...so we've been hearing this cricket chirrupping in the kitchen for the last few days, driving everyone crazy. At about 10:30 this morning I was on the phone in bed when my flatmates come careering down the corridor and yelling, "Come in the kitchen!" Josh had caught the cricket in a box, and later he took it down to the biology lab, where they confirmed that it was a corman cricket, and, to our great surprise and delight, we *were* allowed to keep it. So now he's in a box with some cardboard 'toys', scraps of fruit (which he'll apparently eat) and a name label reading "Steve". Wonder how long we can keep him alive

On the other hand...haven't had a decent night's sleep since I got here, and not due to drinking. The outer door to our building doesn't lock; you can open it by just pulling hard enough. Our door's the first thing you see in the foyer so ours is the first place they come. First night we had drunk second-years raid our corridor and come in our rooms, and that's not the only time they have done; my door plaque's been stolen and I think the stuff in our kitchen got messed with too. Every other night we've been up with the fire alarms. Went off at about 1:00 in the morning first; I was still awake on the phone. Then it went off again at 6:00...and 7:00...and 7:15...Finally the fire marshalls told us that it was people smashing all the alarms in our block, and if we wanted something done about it we'd have to catch them ourselves. Gee thanks.
Nine o'clock start, here I come... *headdesk*

Last night was better, though one of my flatmates' group of friends was making one hell of a racket at one point last night...but then I did go to bed at 11:30 or something. Last night was probably the best nights' sleep I've had since I got here This is my seventh day at uni, and I have nothing on today! Not quite sure what I'll do with myself. Shopping! If anyone wants it I'll PM you my address here (y'know, if you fancy writing me or sending me presents or anything )

I've just got my full timetable now - I have lectures Monday 3 til 7, Thursday 4 til 6, and Friday 10 til 12. I'm trying to get the Friday amended; I'm travelling home/elsewhere far too many weekends to want to have to leave midday Friday when I could be leaving Thursday evening. Problem is, I may end up shifting it to 10 til 12 on Monday, which leaves an unhappy six hours of lectures on Monday, two of which are Russian and fairly hardcore. Otherwise I'll try to move it to Tuesday, which would be better I guess but it means I don't have Tuesdays off...though I'd be done by midday still.
Whatcha think, Monday or Tuesday? *muse*
