Ok I thought we needed a pirate role-play, I mean who doesn’t like pirates.
Rules are simple:
- Third person please, I want to see this evolve as a separate story to the one I’m hoping to write.
- Introduce your character using the frame I am going to post. Remember I’m looking for all characters to be crew members. Pirates yes, but they’re not going to each have their own ship. We would end up with an armada if that happened.
- I don’t care where the story goes as long as it stays sensible. I’m going to lend a direction as captain of the ship .
Have fun, and always think of my story as a separate universe, I don’t want to see two identical twins that were separated at birth.

THE STORY
I’m afraid this first section turned out longer than I had hoped but id didn’t want to rush and ruin the setting I was hoping to create.
________________________________________________________________________
The Black Decadence glided gracefully into the mouth of Swallow Bay, the white crests of the waves breaking on its bow. Although only half of the sales were furled she was still traveling at a fair rate of knots. It had been months since the crew had set foot on solid ground and even longer since they had landed in Swallow Bay, during this time Black Decadence had been their home.
Ivan stood at the Bow of the Black Decadence; he wanted to make sure his ship made safe passage to the mooring. The Black Decadence Was a Large Galleon That had been commandeered years before by Ivan’s Father, so it required more space than most of the other ships that regularly visited Swallow Bay, most visiting ships were small frigates.
The Harbor Master had spotted Ivan arriving minutes ago and was stood on his balcony surveying the approach through a telescope. Even though he knew the arrival of The Black Decadence and her crew spelt trouble, he would never consider disallowing them access. He had heard stories of the other harbors that had tried to stand their ground. He had heard bad stories.
Black Decadence maneuvered her way alongside the dock. Ivan gave the order to throw down the ropes and weigh anchor. Down on the docks a group of harbor workers had congregated to help with the mooring. They knew it was best to get their first as there were always good deals to be made. Ivan jumped down from the rope ladder which he had half scaled, as a wooden ramp was raised to provide easy access to the ship.
Ivan wore a long tan leather coat that had tails down to the ground over a white cotton shirt embroidered in gold. His hair was tied back to keep it from his eyes in the gusty sea wind. He had baggy black trousers held up by a leather belt clasped with a large gold buckle. The belt held his cutlass and a flintlock pistol.
As he started to bark orders to his crew a man came running up the jetty and told him that “The General” wanted to speak to him. So while his crew and the harbor workers busied themselves with the ship he made his way to the local inn. After a short but brisk stroll he arrived at the doors of the “Swashbucklers Tavern” aptly named for the regular tenants. Ivan opened the Door and was met by a rush of stale smoke filled air that made his nostrils sting, they were used to fresh salt air by now.
Inside he took a seat at the bar can called over one of the young waitress’s.
“What can I do you for?” She asked.
“Rum.” Replied Ivan. “Something to burn the throat, and don’t hold back either.”
The waitress returned moments later with his drink in a large tumbler. He knocked it back. Ivan grabbed another waitress by the arm as she walked past pulling her to his mouth, and whispered in her ear.
“I want to speak to the general.” He kissed her on the cheek. She slapped him, and went out behind the bar, she knew better than to deny a pirate’s orders. She returned a few minutes later.
“He’s waiting for you.” She told Ivan. She then led him to a small room at the back of the inn and tapped gingerly.
“It’s Lucy sir, I got Captain Steed sir.”
“Send him in.” Came the voice from the other side.
Lucy nudged the door open slowly as if the room on the other side was filled with rabid dogs. While she held it open Ivan slipped in. Lucy slammed the door behind him; he heard her footsteps moving quickly away. He turned to face the general who was sat in a large wooden chair behind an extravagant oak desk.
The General got his name from the time he had spent serving in the local army. He had climbed the ranks to general until he was discharged for excessive drinking and some dodgy dealings with some of the shady locals. He is often seen wearing his old uniform, which he kept as he saw no reason for his discharge.
“It’s been a while hasn’t it!” Ivan exclaimed. A bottle collided with the wall next to him and shattered, covering him in shards of glass. He brushed himself down.
“Yes, it has. Too long.” Grumbled the General. “Where’s my money?”
“Ah.” Started Ivan.
“No Buts, about that’s or any other girly whining this time Ivan!” The General spat, his face turning red. “We had an agreement I would LEND you my money, so you could afford the repairs your ship required.” Continued The General. “Which you needed to collect the “Buried Treasure.” The treasure you said you could pay me back with.”
“I have been over this; it wasn’t there when I arrived.” Explained Ivan. “Someone beast me to it. And there’s nothing I can do about it.”
“Well I think you should find something to do about it.” Suggested The General. “If you don’t have my money the next time you enter this bay. You won’t leave it alive.”
“What about a favor for the money?” Asked Ivan. “I don’t mind how dirty it is.” He didn’t want to loose access to the bay; after all it was where he had grown up. And The General had been a good friend of his for some time now, long enough to know what happened to people who crossed him.”
“You can’t worm your way out of this one, Captain Steed” Their was a sense of arrogant sarcasm in The Generals words. “I have nothing I can suggest…” He trailed off, a smirk spread across his face. “Maybe there is one thing you could do for me.” He laughed, Ivan was becoming uneasy.
“Anything” Said Ivan.
“Take this pistol; I want you to kill your first mate. Then you are to hire one of my own men.” The General explained. “It’s loaded one bullet. Make it a clean job, to the back of the head.
“What!” Exclaimed Ivan, he couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing. He had been friends with his first mate since Childhood. They had dreamed of becoming Pirates and sailing the seven seas together.
“Shoot him, In front of your crew.” The look on The Generals showed Ivan he was enjoying this moment. Ivan took the pistol, it was a nice flintlock. The silver engraving on the grip was exquisite, and it was weighted nicely.
He turned to The General.
“That would surely cause a mutiny.” Said Ivan, he knew the crew preferred his first mate over him. It was obvious in the way they behaved around him. “This is what you want isn’t it? Then you would have my ship and my crew.”
“The debt would be paid.” Said The General. “I’m sure you could find work around here. In this inn for instance.”
“That’s not the request of a man.” Spat Ivan, his face was red with rage. He was filled with fury. He had a brotherhood with his crew, they were men he trusted and he knew they trusted him. Thinking fast, and not too clearly he turned the flintlock on The General and pulled that hammer back. “Any last words?”
“You would be making a large mistake pulling that trigger.” Said The General. Ivan could hear the fear in his voice. He relished in it.
“You’ve already made the mistake.” He said, and pulled the trigger. As soon as the crack from the gun had stopped echoing around the room he mentally prepared himself to fight. He evaluated his surroundings trying to locate the quickest and easiest route of escape.
The blast was heard from outside, it sent birds screeching into the air. One of the Bar girls ran to the door and opened it to find Ivan stood, gun in hand. Smoke was still curling from the barrel; which he blew it away as a gesture of victory. He stuffed the pistol into his belt and knocked the waitress out the way as he rushed through the door.
As he made his way into the street he heard the men from the bar scrambling to Follow him. He turned a corner and was tripped over by a tall man wearing a black coat. Ivan got up, dusted himself off, drew his cutlass and prepared for a fight…

After removing one of the minor annoyances, Ivan turned Cutlass in hand, and parried around to the side of another of the men in the mob. As he did so another charged him from the right had side, Ivan kicked the mercenary he was currently engaged with in the stomach and then knocked him over with a clean blow the face using his cutlass’ hilt. He pulled his flintlock from his belt, pulled the hammer back and placed a lead shot between the mans eyes who collapsed in a crimson shower.
Dizzy and the other crew members had engaged with the other men. Dust was being kicked up and blood soaked their clothes. Dizzy slid his sword cleanly into the chest of a mercenary and kicked his writhing body off into another. He placed a further shot from his flintlock into the gut of another.
These men were lacking in talent and were no match for Captain Steed’s crew. After all Ivan had hand picked all of them from various bars around the world. Dizzy and the other men finished off the remaining mercenary’s leaving enough time to relieve them of their valuables.
“We must head back to the ship!” Shouted Dizzy above the ruckus that had broken out all around them.
Ivan nodded an approval and the whole group moved back towards the jetty. Engaging the odd group as they moved.
When they arrived at The Black Decadence it was seething with men locked in combat. The group ran up the boarding plank, cutlasses in hand…

Ivan suddenly heard something wizz past his head and hit something behind him that fell in a heap. He turned round to see a guy with a sword in his hand on the floor right behind him. He then looked back to his ship to see a girl standing there with a sling shot. "Should watch your back captain, im not always going to be there when you need me" "Thanks Rose" Ivan said gratefully. Sometimes he wondered what he would do with out her. More stones flew past him as he carried on getting on board

Ivan heard some sqwaking and looked round to see two parrots flying backwards and forwards with rocks in thier feet and dropping them on the mob which had decreased quite a bit. You could say the parrots were the ship pets, they had been with them since the beggining when Rose found the eggs in deserted roosts and raised them. They could even talk which was helpful now and then, but they could be very annoying at times. But they are only animals, what are we to expect?

Once on the ship Ivan proceeded to cut the mooring ropes. The crew hadn’t had time to furl the sales so the ship started to move out to sea. As the Black Decadence moved it dragged the boarding ramp off the jetty and into the water, along with some of the mob that were still pushing their way onto the ship.
Ivan turning his attention to the men on his ship yelled a greeting to rose, who was firing rocks out of her slingshot. There were men in the rigging; he could hear fighting in his cabin and below deck. He just hoped to god they hadn’t found his rum, it was of a good year after all.
A man swung at him from a rope in the rigging, cutlass in mouth. Ivan offloaded his flintlock into his chest, the man went soaring past letting go of the rope and knocking some of his comrades into the ocean.
Dizzy who had followed him up the ramp was making his way up the central mast. He had his eyes set on one of the mod armed with a rifle perched in the crows-nest. He let go with one arm and brought his flintlock to aim, then fired. The man went cart wheeling backwards through the air landing hard on some other men on the deck below. Dizzy jumped down, his landing softened by a mans neck. He felt it crack as he landed.

Dizzy gave a smile of satisfaction. "God, i love that sound." he said, Ivan nodded approvingly. Rose finised the battle, one of her rocks going through a mans eye. The Black Decadence had lost just three crew members, but had killed around 40 of the General's men. "Ivan.." asked Dizzy "..What was all that about?"

"I, err. Removed a minor annoyance." Explained Ivan.
"And what would that of been Captain." Asked Dizzy
"Well, not what but who." Continued Ivan. Dizzy gave him a stern look. "It was the General."
"Who?" Asked rose, a look of disbelief on her face.
“Well, it was me or him. Or Dizzy.” Said Ivan. “I preferred Him to me or Dizzy.”
“That’s good to know.” Said Dizzy.
“Anyway, I must go check on my rum.” Ivan rushed down to the hold. Leaving a confused Dizzy and Rose looking blankly at each other.

"I'll never understand him" said Dizzy shaking his head "So where to now Dizzy? Which seas we going to sail? Which new island to explore...anymore people to kill?" Rose asked "We will just see where the wind and sea take us till Ivan gives us a course, i thin he will be in his cabin for a while today" Dizzy said while walking away.
The sun beat down on the crew, but luckily there was the nice sea breeze to cool them off as they went on with their jobs on the ship

As the Black Decadence neared the edge of Swallow Bay, Rose turned around and saw that there were two smaller ships giving them chase. "Dizzy we got trouble!" she shouted. Dizzy turned around, his eyes widening. "Albrecht.." one of the deckmen looked up "..raise Captain Steed now!". Albrecht nodded and rushed off below decks. he returned two minutes later with a slightly wobbly Ivan. "Captain we've got problems. 2 sloops off the stern." said Dizzy pointing. Captain Steed pulled out a retractable telescope and focused it on the ships. "well what are you waiting for you scaberous dogs? load the cannons!"

"Unfurl those sails." Continued Ivan, "And dizzy, Take the bleeding helm."
Dizzy ran over to the helm and started to bring the around to starboard so they would make it successfully out of swallow bays mouth. As Dizzy was whizzing the helm around there was a boom in the distance followed by a whiz as a cannon ball went soaring overhead. It sunk into the water with a plop a few meters away from the bow.
"Blast them they’ve got bloody cannons." Slurred Ivan, promptly collapsing. His rum rolling from his hand.
"What do we do now?" Asked rose. "Were sitting ducks, we don’t even have a conscious captain."
"Or sober." Added Albrecht.

"That cannon ball came from the bleeding fort at the end of the bay." Toby shouted down from the crows nest crouched against the mast. The sloops had been gaining fast; they were now close enough for rose, who had been standing at the stern of the Black Decadence to see rows of men holding grappling hooks.
"They're planning to come aboard Dizzy." She shouted towards dizzy who was struggling with the helm. Meanwhile Jack had run back down to the lower deck and was now readying the cannons.

From the crow's nest Toby watched the two boats draw closer. Another boom, and another cannon ball shot out from the direction of the fort. The cannon ball narrowly missed the ship, crashing into the water again. Dizzy and Rosie were already loading their cannons and taking aim at the approaching sloops.

"Albrecht! Hard to starboard!" shouted Dizzy. Albrecht nodded and turned the ship so the starboard side was facing the approaching sloops. "Starboard battery. FIRE!" Dizzy shouted while firing his flintlock at the lead sloop. The sound was immense. as Rose watched she saw one of the cannonballs shatter the helm of the nearest sloop. "Haha! that got 'em!" shouted Toby triumphantly as the crew of the Back Decadence cheered at the sinking of the sloop. The second sloop was nearing the ship.

Jack was now below deck, preparing the cannons for their next barrage. There was a horrendous splintering crack as a cannonball flew through the side of the Black Decadence and Jack swore to himself, knowing he had to hurry up or he would have even more repairs to do.
As he loaded the final ball another crash and another ball flew through the hull. He ran along their line of cannons, firing them in quick succession, each cannon flying back with an almighty bang and straining on its retaining straps as he li the next one. Because of the lack of view from down here he had no Idea how much damage had been done, but if he knew anything about sloops, it would probably be in many pieces by now.

Jack's cannonball soared out, narrowly missing the sloop. "Take that!" yelled Toby. "Take that, you miserable yellow-bellied bas-" At that moment the cannonball from the fort hit the Black Decadance. Toby was thrown back and almost right out of the crows nest. Another crashed into the side.

Another cannonball hit the water, sending great waves crashing against the Decadance. The ship lurched to the side and Toby slipped from the crow's nest, grabbing the edge. Dizzy, Rose and Jack ran to the edge, shooting down the closest pirates boarding. Toby hauled himself back into the crow's nest, taking out his own flintlock and taking aim at a pirate.

Ivan, who had been lying on the deck through the ruckus, slowly came around to the sound of gunfire. As he dragged himself upwards so his back was resting against a cannon one of the men from the boarding ship jumped over and landed in front of him. Ivan lunged forward with his sword embedding it in the mans knee. The man jumped and then stumbled in pain falling the deck where Ivan dropped one of the large iron cannon balls onto his skull.
Toby fired his flintlock, the led shot ripped through the mercenaries left shoulder knocking him to the ground. More men pilled onto the ship crushing their comrade under their feet.

Jack, who was now belw deck seeing to the holes heard the gunshots and picked up his blunderbuss. He looked around for something to load it with and had anidea...
Some time later he popped his head up the ladder to see a small scale battle in progress. He took careful aim, then realised that it was a blunderbus, and so he just pulled the trigger in the general direction of some baddies. He ducked down below deck to fill the barrel up with more powder, grape shot and the only other ammo he could find, kitchen knives.
